Are there any Precautions and Drug Interactions for Vigamox Ophthalmic Solution?

You should know that Vigamox ophthalmic is only for the eyes and should not be swallowed or used on the skin. You should not use Vigamox if you are allergic to Moxifloxacin or other fluoroquinolones (ciprofloxacin, gemifloxacin, levofloxacin, ofloxacin, norfloxacin, and others). Do not use Vigamox to treat an eye's viral or fungal infection. This medicine is only effective when used to treat eye bacterial infections. You should remove your contact lens before applying the eye drops. This medicine may cause blurred vision and may impair your reactions. Avoid driving or hazardous activity until you know how this medicine will affect you.
To apply Vigamox ophthalmic solution, wash hands first. To avoid contamination, do not let the dropper tip touch any surface.

Tilt your head back, gaze upward, and pull down the lower eyelid to make a pouch. Place the dropper directly over the eyes and instill the prescribed number of drops. Look downward and gently close your eyes for 1 to 2 minutes. Place one finger at the corner of the eye near the nose and apply gentle pressure. This will prevent the medication from draining away from the eye. Try not to blink and do not rub the eye. Do not rinse the dropper. Inform your doctor if there is no improvement in your eyes despite your regular use of the eye drops.

You should not take Vigamox Ophthalmic Solution and inform your doctor about your medical history, especially if you have or have had:
• Eye problems such as cataracts or glaucoma;
• Viral or fungal infection of the eyes

Tell your doctor if you plan to get pregnant or breastfeed. During pregnancy, this medication should be used only when needed. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. It is not known if this drug passes into breast milk. Talk to your doctor before breastfeeding.

Tell your doctor about all your medications, including prescriptions, over-the-counter medications, herbal products, and vitamin supplements, to prevent drug interactions that might be fatal to your health. This drug interaction may make your drug less effective, cause adverse effects, or potentiate other drugs' action. For example, there may be a drug interaction between Vigamox Ophthalmic Solution and other medications such as:
• Other eye medications;
• Steroids
