What is Dalacin T Used for?

Dalacin T (Clindamycin) is a prescription medicine used to treat acne in adults. The active ingredient in Dalacin T is Clindamycin. Clindamycin belongs to a class of drugs called Lincomycin antibiotics (topical acne agents). It works by slowing or stopping skin bacteria growth. This action destroys the bacteria's structure and their ability to reproduce. This treats acne, and it may take up to 8 to 12 weeks to see full improvement.

• Dry skin;
• Heartburn;
• Joint pain;
• Metallic taste in the mouth;

Are there any Precautions and Drug Interactions for Dalacin T?

Before taking this medication, you should tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to Dalacin T, Clindamycin or have other problems when taking Dalacin T. It is crucial to apply Clindamycin topical solution as directed by your doctor. Misuse of antibiotics can cause an overgrowth of bacteria or fungi.

Apply a thin film of Dalacin T to the affected area. Wash and dry the area before applying the topical solution. Do not wash the area for at least 2 hours after using the medication. Avoid contact with the eyes. Clindamycin topical solution contains an alcohol base that may burn or irritate the eyes and other sensitive areas. Do not stop using Clindamycin as soon as your acne improves. Ask your doctor when you should stop the treatment.

You should not apply Dalacin T and inform your doctor about your medical history, especially if you have or have had:
• Diarrhea or get diarrhoea when taking antibiotics;
• History of antibiotic-associated colitis (inflamed bowel);
• History of inflammatory bowel disease

Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, and use your drugs as prescribed to control your acne. Dalacin T should be used in pregnancy only when the benefits outweigh the risks. It is not known if Clindamycin passes into breast milk. Talk to your doctor about continuing breastfeeding if you are taking this medication. Clindamycin is not for use in children.

Tell your doctor about all the medications you use, including prescriptions, over-the-counter medications, herbal products, and vitamin supplements, to prevent drug interactions which might be fatal to your health. This drug interaction may make your drug less effective, cause adverse effects, or potentiate other drugs' actions. For example, there may be a drug interaction between Dalacin T and other drugs, such as:
• Acetylcholine, pancuronium, or other neuromuscular blocking agents;
• Erythromycin;
• Other topical medications

Dalacin T Storage and Safety Information

Do not store Dalacin T topical solution above 77°F (25°C). Keep Clindamycin out of reach of children and all medicines out of reach of children.
