Crestor is available in the strength of 5mg, 10mg, 20mg and 40mg tablets. Crestor 5mg is a yellow round tablet and has a pill imprint of “ZD4522 5” on it. Crestor 10mg and 20mg are pink round tablets and has a pill imprint of” ZD4522 10” and “ZD4522 20”. Crestor 40mg is a pink elliptical or oval shaped tablet with”ZD4522 40” imprinted on it.

What is Crestor used for?


Rosuvastatin belongs to the group of drugs called HMG CoA reductase inhibitors or “statins.” This medication is combined with a proper diet to help lower “bad” cholesterol and fats (such as LDL, triglycerides) and raise “good” cholesterol (HDL) in the blood. It may also be used to lower the risk of stroke, heart attack and other heart problems in people with diabetes and coronary heart disease. Crestor works by reducing the amount of cholesterol made by the liver. This medication may work better if you change your lifestyle by eating a low-fat, low cholesterol diet.

What are the Possible Side Effects of Crestor?


The common side effects may include body aches or pain, congestion, cough, dry or sore throat, headache, hoarseness, runny nose, tender or swollen glands in the neck, trouble swallowing and voice changes. The serious side effects may include:

• Clay colored stool;
• Confusion;
• Dark urine;
• Fever;
• Unexplained muscle pain or weakness;

Crestor may interact with other medications such as colchicine, cyclosporine, atorvastatin, itraconazole, warfarin, Coumadin, fenofibrate, advicor, Niaspan, etc.
