The most common side effects of Apoquel include vomiting, diarrhea, inflammation of the skin (dermatitis). These side effects go away on their own, without any need to discontinue treatment with Apoquel. Some other side effects reported in the clinical trials are lack of energy, increased appetite, excessive thirst or excessive drinking. Dogs taking Apoquel had decreased leukocyte count, decreased serum globulin levels and increased cholesterol, aggression and weight loss.

Do not use Apoquel in dogs:

• Less than 1 year of age

• With serious infections

• Breeding, pregnant or lactating dogs

Apoquel may increase the chances of dogs developing serious infections and may cause existing parasitic infections or pre-existing cancers to get worse. Hence, dogs receiving this medication should be constantly monitored for the development of infections.

Apoquel is not for human use. Keep this drug out of sight and reach of children. It is for use in dogs only. Wash your hands immediately after handling the tablets. In case of accidental contact with eyes, flush immediately with water or saline for at least 15 minutes and then seek immediate medical help. If you or your child digests the tablets accidentally, seek immediate medical attention.

Drug interactions


This medication has not been tested in dogs receiving some medications including drugs commonly used to treat skin conditions like corticosteroids and cyclosporine or other immunosuppressant drugs. Apoquel has been safely used with common medications including parasiticides, antibiotics, and vaccines.

Apoquel Storage and Safety Information


The medication should be stored at a controlled room temperature between 20°C and 25°C, with excursions permitted between 15°C and 40°C. Keep this medicine out of sight and reach of children.
