Frontline is also used in cats and dogs for killing all stages of ticks (larvae, nymph, and adult), including brown dog ticks, American dog ticks, lone star ticks, and deer ticks. It also kills ticks that may transmit Lyme disease haemobartonellosis, ehrlichiosis, babesiosis, anaplasmosis, and other tick-borne diseases. Frontline also rapidly eliminates the chewing lice infestations. Frontline also helps in control of sarcoptic mange infestations. This medication is approved in all cats and dogs including breeding, pregnant, and lactating, kittens (as young as 8 weeks and weighing at least 1.5 lbs) and puppies (as young as 8 weeks and weighing at least 5 lbs). Frontline spreads from a single point of application, rapidly covering the entire skin and localizing in the hair, on the surface of the skin and in the sebaceous glands. Dogs or cats may be treated with Frontline following bathing and shampooing once they are dry. The product will spread over the coat of the animal within 24 hours. How Is Frontline applied?

Break the snap off the top from the pipette along the scoring line. Choose an area where licking cannot occur such as on the back of the neck. Part the coat until the skin is visible. Place the tip of the pipette on the skin and squeeze several times to empty its contents directly on the skin. Take care to avoid excessive wetting of the hair as this will leave a sticky appearance of hairs at the treatment spot. However, if this occurs, it will disappear within 24 hours of application. Frontline kills adult fleas, flea eggs and larvae for up to six weeks. Frontline also prevents the development of all flea stages for up to six weeks. However, if there is a high risk of re-infestation or if the cat or dog has fleas which may cause allergy dermatitis, a once monthly application may be needed. Frontline kills chewing lice for at least once a month. A once monthly application is recommended where chewing lice control is needed.
