Treating depression prevents self-harm or suicidal ideation.

Are there any Precautions and Drug Interactions for Heptral?

Before taking Heptral, inform your doctor if you are allergic to it or have taken MAO inhibitors in the last two weeks. Heptral is a tablet and should be taken orally. Swallow the tablet whole with water; do not crush, break, or chew it. You should take the tablet once or twice daily on an empty stomach for faster absorption. Follow your prescription label carefully. Do not use more than your prescribed dose. Inform your doctor if you are treating diabetes before using Heptral with antidiabetic medication, as the combination may cause a sudden drop in your sugar level (hypoglycemia). Avoid consuming alcoholic beverages with Heptral tablets, which could lead to increased drowsiness and liver damage. Heptral may cause dizziness. Do not drive vehicles or operate heavy machines if you experience any symptoms affecting your mental alertness. The duration of your treatment depends on the nature of your condition and your response to treatment. You should not stop using Heptral without consulting your doctor.

You should not take Heptral and inform your doctor about your medical history, especially if you have or have had:
• Duodenal ulcer or peptic ulcer;
• History of bipolar disorder;
• Kidney disease;
• Liver disease (including gallstones, cholecystitis, and biliary colic);
• Vitamin B12 and folic acid deficiencies

Inform your doctor if you become pregnant or plan to get pregnant. Do not use Heptral during pregnancy. We always encourage our customers to have an open conversation about the risks and benefits of their medication. Heptral passes into human breast milk, and whether it is safe in children or babies is unknown. Do not use this medication if you are a nursing mother.

Tell your doctor about all the medications you use, including prescriptions, over-the-counter medications, herbal products, and vitamin supplements, to prevent drug interactions which might be fatal to your health. This interaction may make your drug less effective, cause adverse effects, or potentiate other drugs' actions. For example, there may be a drug interaction between Heptral and other medications, such as:
• Antidepressants such as bupropion, duloxetine, fluoxetine, and sertraline;
• Monoamine oxidase inhibitors, including phenelzine, iproniazid, isocarboxazid, nialamide, tranylcypromine, and selegiline;
