What is Imunovir used for?


Imunovir is used to treat Subacute sclerosing panencephalitis (SSPE). SSPE is a progressive neurological disorder of children and young adults that affects the central nervous system (CNS). It is a slow, but persistent, viral infection caused by defective measles virus. It is a rare complication of measles. Take the medication exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Imunovir can be taken orally with or without food. The recommended dosage is 50 mg/kg/day, up to a maximum of 3 g/day, administered orally in 3 to 4 equally divided doses during waking hours.

What Are The Possible Side Effects of Imunovir?


Some of the common side effects of Imunovir may include increased uric acid levels in blood, and urine which can cause gout and kidney stones. Some of the less common side effects of this medication include stomach upset, nausea, vomiting, headache, increased liver enzymes, skin rashes, itching, painful joints, vertigo, and tiredness.
