Invokamet (Canagliflozin/Metformin) is a combination medication that is used to control high blood sugar in people with type 2 diabetes. This medication is used along with a proper diet and exercise program. This medication works by helping to restore the body’s proper response to the insulin you naturally produce. It also increases the removal of sugar by your kidneys, decreases the amount of sugar made in your liver and decreases the amount of sugar your body takes in through your stomach and intestines.

What are the Possible Side Effects of Invokamet?


The common side effects may include bloating/gas, diarrhea, frequent urination, nausea, vomiting, upset stomach, unusual dry mouth and weakness. The serious side effects may include:

• Burning, painful or frequent urination;

• Change in the amount of urine;

• Muscle weakness;

• Slow or irregular heartbeat;

• Swelling legs or feet

Are there any Precautions or Drug Interactions for Invokamet?


You should not take Invokamet if you are allergic to Canagliflozin or Metformin or if you have any other allergies. Before you start taking this medication, talk to your doctor about your medical conditions and about all the medications you are taking including OTC and herbal medications. Invokamet may interact with several medications such as pacritinib, fexinidazole, gliclazide, cimetidine, phenytoin, ritonavir, tolazamide. You may have blurred vision, dizziness, and drowsiness due to extremely low or high blood sugar. You should not drive, use machinery or do any activity that requires alertness unless you can perform these activities safely. You should limit your alcohol intake while using this medication because it may increase your risk of developing lactic acidosis, low blood sugar and a high ketone level. This medication should not be used only when clearly needed. Metformin passes into breast milk. It is unknown if Canagliflozin passes into breast milk.

Invokamet should be stored at room temperature away from light and moisture and out of reach of children and pets.
