What Are The Possible Side Effects Of K-Dur?


K-Dur can cause a severe allergic reaction with symptoms such as hives, difficulty breathing, swelling of the face, lips or tongue or throat. Stop using this medication immediately and get emergency help if you experience any of these symptoms. Other common side effects of K-Dur include confusion, anxiety, feeling of passing out, uneven heartbeat, extreme thirst, increased urination, leg discomfort, severe throat irritation, muscle weakness or limp feeling, numbness or tingling in hands or feet or around mouth, severe stomach pain, ongoing diarrhea or vomiting, black, bloody or tarry stools, coughing up blood or vomit. Less serious side effects include mild nausea, upset stomach, mild or occasional diarrhea, stomach bloating, the appearance of a K-Dur tablet in stools. These are not complete side effects of K-Dur. In case of any unexpected effect, contact your healthcare professional immediately.

Are there any Precautions and Drug interactions for K-Dur?


You should avoid taking potassium supplements or other products that contain potassium without consulting your doctor. Salt substitutes or low-salt foods often contain potassium. Read the label of any food or medicine to see if it contains potassium. Controlled release formulations of Potassium Chloride have been found to cause ulceration in the esophagus of cardiac patients. Potassium supplementation should be given as a liquid preparation or suspension in such patients.

Do not take K-Dur if you:

• Have hyperkalemia (high levels of potassium in the blood

• Have diabetic gastroparesis (a condition where the movement of the food is slowed down

• Are taking a "potassium-sparing" diuretic (water pill) such as amiloride (Midamor, Moduretic), spironolactone (Aldactone, Aldactazide), triamterene (Dyrenium, Dyazide, Maxzide)

• Have heart disease or high blood pressure

• Have a blockage in your stomach or intestines

• Have chronic diarrhea (such as ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease)

• Are pregnant. This medication may be harmful to your unborn baby. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant during treatment.

• Are breastfeeding. It is not known whether K-Dur passes into breast milk or if it could harm the baby. Do not use K-Dur without telling your doctor if you are breastfeeding.
Safety and effectiveness of K-Dur in pediatric patients have not been established.

Drug interactions


You should tell your healthcare professional about all the medications and skin products that you use, including any prescription or non-prescription vitamins or herbal supplements. Medications which can interact with K-Dur include:

• Eplerenone (a drug used to manage chronic heart failure)

• Digoxin (a medication used to treat congestive heart failure and abnormal heart rhythms)

• Bronchodilators used to treat asthma such as ipratropium or tiotropium

• ACE inhibitors such as captopril, lisinopril, quinapril used to treat high blood pressure

• Any diuretic (water pill) such as chlorothiazide, chlorthalidone acid, hydrochlorothiazide

K-Dur Storage and Safety Information


The medication should be stored at room temperature between 15°C and 30°C, away from moisture and heat, in a closed container. Keep this medicine out of sight and reach of children.
