Alogliptin belongs to the group of medications called DPP-4 inhibitors. It works by increasing the amount of incretin released by the intestine. Metformin belongs to the group of medications called biguanides. It works by reducing the amount of glucose the liver makes and it also makes it easier for the glucose to enter the tissues of the body.

The common side effects may include bloating or gas, diarrhea, nausea, upset stomach, vomiting and weakness. The serious side effects may include:

It is unknown whether this medication passes into breast milk or if it could harm a nursing baby. Kazano is used only for patients older than 18 years. You should limit your alcohol while using this medication because it can increase your risk of lactic acidosis and develop low blood sugar. Metformin passes into breast milk. It is not known if Alogliptin passes into breast milk.
Kazano may interact with other medicines/agents such as: Alcohol, Lamotrigine, Insulins, Ranolazine, Trimethoprim, Warfarin, among others.

Kazano should be stored at room temperature away from light and moisture away from children and pets. This medication should not be stored in the bathroom.
