What is Lynparza used for?


Lynparza is used for the treatment of breast cancer that has spread outside the breast in adults who have inherited gene mutations in the BRCA genes. BRCA genes are known as breast cancer genes. To receive Lynparza for the treatment of your breast cancer, you must have this mutation and have had previous chemotherapy for the cancer. It is also used for the treatment of cancer of ovaries. Lynparza belongs to a class of drugs known as PARP (poly [adenosine diphosphate-ribose] polymerase) inhibitor. PARP inhibitors can destroy cancer cells that are not able to repair damage to their DNA genes. Lynparza works in patients with and without BRCA mutations. A test is used to find out whether you have a mutation of your BRCA genes. Always take Lynparza exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Swallow the tablets whole, do not crush, chew or break the tablets. Take about at the same time every morning and evening. It can be taken with or without food. The recommended daily dose is 600 mg. Never take more than 4 tablets in a day.
