Are there any Precautions and Drug Interactions for Metrocream?

This medication comes as a cream and should only be used on the skin. Wash and dry your hands and the area to be treated before and after applying this medication. Wait 15 minutes, then apply a thin layer of medicine once or twice daily or as directed by your doctor.

It would be best if you stopped taking alcoholic beverages before you started applying Metrocream for your skin condition. Be careful not to get metronidazole cream in your eyes or mouth. Watery eyes or continuous tearing may occur if this medication is applied too close to the eyes. If this happens, rinse your eyes with large amounts of cool water. It would be best not to use Metrocream to treat any skin condition your doctor has not checked. You should notice positive changes in your symptoms within 3-8 weeks of use. Reach out to your doctor if the Metrocream is not working for you.

You should not take Metrocream and inform your doctor about your medical history, especially if you have or have had:
• A central nervous system condition (diseases of the spinal cord or brain) or a blood disease;
• Kidney disease;
• Liver disease (including hepatitis B infection)

Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breastfeeding. Call your doctor immediately for medical advice if you become pregnant while using metronidazole. Metronidazole passes into the breastmilk while breastfeeding. Therefore, discussing the risks and benefits with your doctor before breastfeeding would be best.

Tell your doctor about all your medications, including prescriptions, over-the-counter medications, herbal products, and vitamin supplements, to prevent drug interactions that might be fatal to your health. This interaction may make your drug less effective, cause adverse effects, or potentiate other drugs' actions. For example, there may be a drug interaction between Metrocream and other drugs such as:
• Dronabinol;
• Flibanserin;
• Lomitapide;
• Lonafarnib
