What is Micardis used for?


Micardis is an angiotensin receptor blocker, typically used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). Micardis keeps blood vessels from narrowing, which in turn improves blood flow. In rare cases, Micardis can lead to kidney failure. Be sure to seek emergency care right away if you experience any unexplained muscle pain, tenderness, or weakness – particularly if accompanied by a fever, unusual tiredness, and dark urine.

There are several medications that can have interactions with Micardis. Talk to your doctor, especially if you’re currently taking:
• Digoxin;
• Lithium;
• Diuretics;
• ACE inhibitors;
• NSAIDs (aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen, etc.)
• Ramipril, or other blood pressure medications

If you have diabetes, do not take Micardis together with the following medications:
• Amturnide;
• Tekturna;
• Tekamlo;
• Valturna;
• Any medication containing aliskiren

Store Micardis at room temperature, away from extreme heat and moisture.
