Are there any Precautions and Drug Interactions for Noroxin?

Before taking this medication, tell your doctor if you are allergic to Norfloxacin or other fluoroquinolones (ciprofloxacin, gemifloxacin, levofloxacin, and moxifloxacin). Norfloxacin is a tablet and should be taken with a cup of water. You should follow all directions on your prescription label. Take your medication according to your doctor's prescription. It would be best to take Norfloxacin on an empty stomach 1 hour before or 2 hours after eating a meal, drinking milk, or eating a dairy product such as yogurt. Use this medication for the whole prescribed period, and do not stop even if you feel better. Norfloxacin may cause swelling or tearing of a tendon, especially in the Achilles tendon of the heel. You should talk to your doctor if you develop pain in your leg or while working. Consult your doctor if your condition gets worse.

You should not take Noroxin and inform your doctor about your medical history, especially if you have or have had:
• Diabetes mellitus;
• Heart diseases, including abnormal rhythm, heart failure, or family history of sudden death;
• Kidney disease;
• Liver disease (including hepatitis B infection);
• Low level of potassium in the blood;
• Muscle disorders such as myasthenia gravis;
• Seizure or epilepsy

Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breastfeeding. It is unknown whether Norfloxacin will harm an unborn baby. Likewise, it is not known whether Norfloxacin passes into breast milk or if it could harm a nursing baby. Talk to your doctor before breastfeeding your baby.
Tell your doctor about all the medications you use, including prescriptions, over-the-counter medications, herbal products, and vitamin supplements, to prevent drug interactions that might be fatal to your health. This drug interaction may make your drug less effective, cause adverse effects, or potentiate other drugs' actions. For example, there may be a drug interaction between Noroxin and other drugs, such as:
• Antacid;
• Caffeinated drinks;
• Didanosine;
• Mineral supplement containing zinc
