Risperdal is an antipsychotic medication that alters the chemicals in the brain. o Fruity breath odor
o Drowsiness
o Dry skin

o Weight loss
• Painful erections, or erections lasting more than 4 hours

Stop taking Risperdal and seek help if you have any signs of allergic reaction, which includes:
• Hives;
• Difficulty breathing;
• Swelling of your lips, face, tongue, and/or throat

Are there any Precautions and Drug interactions of Risperdal?


You should not use the Risperdal if you’re allergic to Risperidone.

Be sure to talk to your doctor to determine if Risperdal is safe for you, particularly if you have or have had the following:
• Heart disease;
• High blood pressure;
• Heart rhythm problems;
• Stroke or heart attack;
• Diabetes (or risk factors linking you to diabetes);
• Low white blood cell counts;

Risperdal Storage and Safety Information


Store Risperdal at room temperature away from extreme heat, light, and moisture.

Risperdal can impair your thinking and/or reactions. Be cautious doing anything strenuous or requiring concentration until you know how you’re affected by the medication.

Avoid drinking alcohol while on this medication, as dangerous side effects can occur.

You may be more sensitive to extreme temperatures of hot and cold while on this medication. Avoid getting too cold, overheating, or becoming dehydrated. Be sure to drink plenty of fluids throughout the day and particularly when exercising in hot weather.

Do not take Risperdal while pregnant, unless by continuing on your doctor’s advice. Taking any antipsychotic medicine during the final trimester may cause withdrawal symptoms in your newborn. You should also not breastfeed while on this medication.

This medication should not be used to treat the psychotic conditions of dementia, as it may increase the risk in death in older adults.

Overdose symptoms for this medication include: severe drowsiness, fast heart rate, lightheadedness, fainting, restless muscle movements in the eyes, tongue, jaw, or neck. Seek emergency help or call Poison Control at 1-800-463-5060 immediately if you suspect an overdose.
