What is Sebcur Used for?

Sebcur (Salicylic Acid) is an over-the-counter medicated shampoo used to control the itching, redness, and scaling associated with dandruff, stubborn seborrhea, or psoriasis of the scalp and to restore a normal scalp oil balance. The active ingredient in Sebcur is Salicylic Acid. Salicylic Acid belongs to the class of medications called Keratolytic Agents. It works by softening and loosening dry, scaly, or thickened skin so it falls off or can be removed easily. Sebcur shampoo may be used for other conditions not mentioned in this guide.

What are the Possible Side Effects of Sebcur?

If you experience any of the following common side effects, contact your doctor or pharmacist immediately:
• Skin desquamation;
• Skin irritation;
• Stinging or burning of the scalp

Stop using Sebcur and contact your doctor right away if you have any of the severe side effects such as:
• Changes in the color of the hair;
• Severe scalp itching or burning sensation while using the shampoo;
• Worsening of your skin condition

This is not a complete list of the adverse effects of Sebcur. Kindly contact your doctor or pharmacist if any of the above-listed side effects last longer than usual or worsen.

Are there any Precautions and Drug Interactions for Sebcur?

Before using Sebcur shampoo, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to Sebcur or have other problems when using this shampoo. It can be gotten over the counter; hence, kindly read the manufacturer's guide carefully. It is for external use only. The shampoo should be used 2-3 times in a week. Wet the hair with water and apply the shampoo until enough lather is formed. Rinse and reapply the shampoo for the second time. The second lather should remain on the scalp for about 5 minutes, and rinse thoroughly after. Avoid contact with eyes, nose, or mouth. If so, rinse thoroughly with water. Apply the Sebcur shampoo to the areas of your skin that are affected by your skin condition. Do not apply topical salicylic Acid to large areas of your body unless your doctor tells you to do so. Do not cover the skin where you applied topical salicylic Acid with a bandage or dressing unless your doctor tells you that you should. Discuss with your doctor if your condition worsens or does not improve after regular use. Do not use on children under 2 years of age except under the supervision of a doctor.

You should not take Sebcur and inform your doctor about your medical history, especially if you have or have had:
• Kidney disease;
• Liver disease;
• Open or infected wound

Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or breastfeeding a child. Sebcur shampoo should be used with caution during pregnancy. Your doctor will discuss the risks and benefits of using Sebcur shampoo during pregnancy. It is unknown if Sebcur shampoo is harmful to a nursing mother. Discuss with your doctor or read the manufacturer's leaflet before using it. Tell your doctor about all the medications you use, including prescriptions, over-the-counter medications, herbal products, and vitamin supplements, to prevent drug interactions that might be fatal to your health. This drug interaction may make your drug less effective, cause adverse effects, or potentiate other drugs' actions. Sebcur medicated shampoo has no known drug interaction.
