What is Starlix Used for?


Starlix (Nateglinide) is a prescription medicine used as a combination therapy with metformin to control high blood sugar in type-2 diabetic patients. The active ingredient in Starlix is Nateglinide. Nateglinide belongs to the class of medication called Antidiabetics, Meglitinides Derivatives. It works by increasing insulin production and makes your body respond better to the insulin produced by the pancreas. It also reduces postprandial hyperglycemia. Controlling elevated blood sugar helps to prevent renal damage, sudden blindness, nerve problems, loss of limbs, and sexual function problems.

What are the Possible Side Effects of Starlix?

Starlix comes as a tablet to be taken with a cup of water. Do not crush or chew the tablet. You should take this medication before each main meal, usually 3 times daily, or as directed by your doctor. Take this drug no earlier than 30 minutes before the meal. It is not known whether this drug passes into breast milk. Reach out to your doctor before breastfeeding. Tell your doctor about all your medications, including prescriptions, over-the-counter medications, herbal products, and vitamin supplements, to prevent drug interactions that might be fatal to your health. This interaction may make your drug less effective, cause adverse effects, or potentiate other drugs' actions. For example, there may be a drug interaction between Starlix and other drugs such as:

• Ciprofloxacin;
• Metronidazole;
