What Is Visanne Used For?


Visanne is prescribed for the treatment of painful symptoms caused by endometriosis (endometrium-like tissues outside the uterus which cause chronic inflammation) in women who are 18 years of age and above and have had the first menstrual cycle (menarche). Visanne works by reducing the pelvic pain associated with endometriosis. Take the medication exactly as prescribed by your doctor. One tablet should be swallowed daily, preferably at the same time, with some liquid as needed. Visanne can be taken with or without food. Visanne will be less effective if you miss a tablet or have vomiting or diarrhea. If you miss one or more tablets, take a tablet as soon as you remember and then continue taking the tablet the next day at your usual time. Do not take more than one tablet per day

Most common side effects caused by Visanne are weight gain, sleeping problems, nervousness, loss of interest in sex, headache, migraine, abdominal pain, acne or hair loss, breast discomfort, ovarian cyst, generalized weakness and irritability. Some of the serious side effects of this medication include problems with breast lump, unexpected vaginal bleeding, persistent sad or depressed mood, breast lump, unusual swelling of extremities, and pain or swelling in the leg. These are not all the possible side effects of Visanne. In case of any unexpected effect, consult your doctor or pharmacist.

Are there any Precautions and Drug interactions for Visanne?


While using Visanne you must use a nonhormonal birth control method such as condoms or a diaphragm. Do not use any form of birth control that contains hormones.
