Are there any precautions or drug interactions for Vtama?

Before using this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to Vtama or have other problems when using Vtama. It is crucial to continue using this medication exactly as your doctor prescribes. Vtama is available as a topical medication. It should be used on the skin only. Do not take it by mouth. Do not apply it to the eyes or vagina. Apply a thin layer to the affected areas once daily. Wash your hands thoroughly after application unless you are treating your hands. Avoid swimming, bathing, showering, or difficult activities for at least 2 hours after applying Vtama.

You should not use Vtama and inform your doctor about your medical history, especially if you have or have had:
• Previous allergic reactions to topical products;
• Skin infections.

Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant. It is unknown if Tapinarof will harm an unborn baby. The safety and effectiveness of this medicine in pregnancy have not been established. Inform your doctor if you are breastfeeding or planning to breastfeed. It is unknown if Tapinarof passes into breast milk or what its effects on a nursing infant are. Your doctor will decide whether you should discontinue nursing or the drug. Do not use Vtama for plaque psoriasis in children without talking to your doctor.

Tell your doctor about all the medications you use, including prescriptions, over-the-counter medications, herbal products, and vitamin supplements, to prevent drug interactions that might be fatal to your health. This drug interaction may make your drug less effective, cause adverse effects, or potentiate other drugs' actions. Vtama is not expected to cause systemic interactions with other drugs. However, applying multiple topical products to the same area may increase irritation or affect absorption.

Vtama Storage and Safety Information

Store Vtama at room temperature between 20°C and 25°C (68°F to 77°F). Do not freeze and protect the medication from excessive heat. Always keep Vtama and all medicines out of reach of children.
