What is Xeomin used for?


Xeomin is an injection medication made from the bacteria that causes botulism. It works to block nerve activity in muscles, which produces a temporary reduction in muscle activity. It’s used to treat cervical dystonia (severe spasms in the neck muscles), or muscle spasms in the arms. It can also be used to treat certain eye conditions such as uncontrolled blinking, spasming eyelids, and wandering eye (a condition where the eyes do not point in the same direction). It can also be used to temporarily reduce the appearance of wrinkles on the face, such as frown lines or between the eyebrows.

What are the Possible Side Effects of Xeomin?

Are there any Precautions and Drug interactions of Xeomin?


You should not use the Xeomin if you’re allergic to incobotulinumtoxinA.

• If you have ever received other botulinum toxin injections such as Botox, Dysport, or Myobloc (especially in the last 4 months).

Xeomin Storage and Safety Information


Unopened vials of Xeomin can be stored at temperature below 25 degC. After reconstiution, store in the refridgerator (2-8 degC) and use within 24 hours. Xeomin injections should only be given by a trained medical professional.

The botulinum toxin within Xeomin does have the ability to spread to other areas of the body beyond the initial injection site. In some cases, this can cause life-threatening side effects. Pay attention to any side effects for the first couple of weeks after receiving this injection and report anything unusual right away to your doctor.

Avoid going back to any normal physical routine too quickly after receiving the injection. It may impair your vision or depth perception, as well as make your muscles weak.
