What is Lustra Cream Used for?


Lustra Cream (Hydroquinone) is a prescription medication used to lighten areas of darkened skin (also called hyperpigmentation) such as melasma, "liver spots," "age spots," (freckles) caused by pregnancy, birth control pills, hormone medicine, or injury to the skin. The active substance in Lustra cream is Hydroquinone. Hydroquinone belongs to a class of drugs called depigmenting agents. Lustra cream works blocking the process in the skin that leads to skin discoloration.

What are the Possible Side Effects of Lustra Cream?


The most common side effects of Lustra cream include:
• Dryness;
• inflammatory reactions;
• Mild skin irritation and sensitization such as burning;
• Redness/erythema;
• Stinging

Use sunscreen and wear protective clothing on the treated areas of the skin when you are outside. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant. During pregnancy, this medication should be used only when the benefits outweigh the risk. It is not known whether this drug passes into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding. Kindly tell your doctor or pharmacist about other medication you are using, including other prescriptions and over-the-counter medicine, vitamins, and herbal supplements. Hydroquinone may interact with other medications. Apply Lustra topical cream to the affected areas of the skin and follow your doctor's direction on usage. This medication is for use on the skin only.
