What is Alomide used for?
Alomide (Lodoxamine) belongs to a group of medicines called anti-allergics. It is used to treat the symptoms of allergic conjunctivitis such as red, itchy, puffy and watery eyes. This medication is used to treat certain allergic eye conditions (vernal keratoconjunctivitis, vernal conjunctivitis, vernal keratitis). It prevents itching of the eyes that can occur with these conditions. Lodoxamine is known as a mast cell stabilizer. It works by blocking certain natural substances (histamine, leukotriene) that cause allergic symptoms. The usual dose is 1 or 2 drops into the affected eye 4 times a day at regular intervals.
