What is Axid Used for?

Axid (Nizatidine) is a prescription medicine used to treat and prevent the recurrence of ulcers and to treat other conditions where the stomach makes too much acid, such as heartburn, acid indigestion, or sour stomach. The active ingredient in the Axid tablet is Nizatidine. Nizatidine belongs to the class of drugs called Histamine receptor antagonists (H2 blockers). It works by decreasing the amount of acid made in the stomach. Reducing the acid helps ease the pain of stomach and intestinal ulcers and heartburn and assists in the healing of ulcers and damage caused by gastroesophageal reflux disease.
