Calcort is a steroid medication use for different conditions including serious illnesses. Corticosteroids occur naturally in the body to maintain health. Calcort helps to boost this to treat various illnesses involving inflammation. Calcort can be used to treat inflammation including asthma, arthritis and allergies. It can also be used to treat problems with your skin, kidney, heart, digestive system, eyes or blood and treat problems where your body has tumours. This medication is also used to treat Duchenne muscular dystrophy in adults and children at least 2 years old. Deflazacort does not cure muscular dystrophy, but it may improve muscle strength and slow the progression of disability. This can help stop autoimmune reactions happening in your body. Adults may take 1/2-3 tablets each day for arthritis, 8-12 tablets for severe asthma, and some may require 20 tablets each day for several days. For children, dosage will be the lowest possible based on age and weight of the child.
