What is Frova used for?


Frova (Frovatriptan Succinate) is a prescription medication that is used to treat migraines. Frovatriptan belongs to the class of medications known as triptans. It works by narrowing the blood vessels in the brain. This medication helps to relieve headache, pain, and other migraine symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, sensitivity to light and sound. Frovatriptan does not prevent future migraines or lessen the frequency of the headaches. The recommended adult dose of Frovatriptan is 2.5 mg for migraine headaches with or without aura. You can take a second dose between 4 and 24 hours after the first dose. You should never take more than 2 tablets in a 24-hour period.

What are the Possible Side Effects of Frova?


The common side effects may include dizziness, dry mouth, feelings of tingling, numbness, prickling, heat and flushing. The serious side effects may include:

• Blue fingers, toes or nails;

• Cold hands or feet;

• Fast or irregular heartbeat;

• Hearing changes;

• Mental or mood changes;

• Severe stomach or abdominal pain

Are there any Precautions or Drug Interactions for Frova?


You should not take Frova if you are allergic to Frovatriptan or if you have any other allergies. Before you start taking this medication, talk to your doctor about your medical history and about all the medications you take including OTC and herbal medications. This drug may make you dizzy. You should not drive, use machinery or do any activity that requires you to be alert, unless you are sure you can perform these activities safely. Limit alcoholic beverages. This medication should not be taken during pregnancy unless it is clearly needed. It is unknown if this medication passes into breast milk.
