What is Grastek used for?


Grastek (Standardized Timothy Grass Pollen Extract) is used to treat the symptoms of moderate to severe seasonal allergies. Timothy grass allergenic extract belongs to the class of medications called allergy immunotherapies. This medication works by causing the body’s immune system to become less sensitive to the effects on the pollen. You can start taking Grastek at any point during the year to improve your allergies. It is best to start taking the medication 8 to 12 weeks before the grass pollen season begins so the allergies improve during the first allergy season.

You should see your doctor immediately if you have any of the side effects such as bleeding gums, blocked feeling in the ear, chest discomfort, enlarged glands, nose bleeds and stomach pain. The common side effects may include:
