It can be used to treat children and adolescents of 2 years of age and above. This medication helps to control HIV infection. HIV is a virus that causes AIDS (Acquired Immune Deficiency Virus). Isentress works by blocking an enzyme called HIV integrase which the virus needs in order to make more virus. When used with other anti-retroviral medications, Isentress may reduce the amount of HIV load in blood (also known as viral load) which may help to keep the immune system healthy.
