Miebo is a prescription medicine used to relieve symptoms of dry eye disease (DED). Dry eye occurs when tears aren't able to provide adequate moisture. Symptoms of dry eyes include redness, inflammation, discomfort, and sensitivity to light. The active ingredient in Miebo eye drops is Perfluorohexyloctane. Perfluorohexyloctane belongs to a class of drugs called ophthalmic anti-inflammatory agents. It works by keeping your tears from drying up by preventing excessive tear evaporation. The medication keeps the eye moist, protecting it from injury and infection. It also decreases symptoms of dry eyes, such as burning, itching, and feeling like something is in the eye.

Wash your hands and remove the cap of the bottle before using the drug. Avoid touching the tip of the bottle to any surface or your eyes to prevent contamination and infection in your eyes. Repeat for your other eye. If you wear contact lenses, remove them before using Miebo. You can put them back in after waiting at least 30 minutes after using the drops. Your doctor may instruct you to instill one drop of Miebo into each eye four times daily. Miebo can cause blurred vision. Avoid driving until your vision becomes clear again.
