What is Naftin Used for?

Naftin (Naftifine) is an antifungal medication that contains Naftifine hydrochloride as the active ingredient. It is applied topically, and it has a distinct mechanism of action in its therapeutic use against fungal infections. It does this by blocking the activity of an enzyme known as Squalene epoxidase, which is involved in forming the protective coating of fungal cells. It efficiently reduces the chances of growth of the fungal cells and consequently eliminates the fungal infection. This medication is used to treat Athlete’s foot, a fungal infection, by getting rid of the redness, itching and scaling involved. Athlete’s foot often occurs in people with sweaty feet usually confined for long periods in tight-fitting shoes. The symptoms include a scaly rash between toes that progresses to itchy and burning sensations. Naftin is used to treat other fungal infections such as dermatophyte or ringworm infections, including tinea cruris, tinea pedis, tinea versicolor and Jock itch. It is advisable to use the cream on the skin only. Clean and adequately dry the portion of the skin to be treated and apply a thin smear of the cream to the affected area and rub in gently. This medication is usually applied once a day if you are using the cream. Continue the usage until the prescribed time of usage elapses to prevent the risk of relapse and if the condition persists, inform your doctor.

What are the Possible Side effects of Naftin?

Medications are prescribed with the consideration of their potential benefits and side effects.
