What Is Olmetec Used For?

Olmetec is prescribed to lower the blood pressure in adults and children above 6 years old. When blood pressure is high, the workload on the heart and arteries increases, and with time, these organs stop working normally, leading to damage of vital organs such as the brain, heart, kidneys. This can result in stroke, heart failure, heart attack, blood vessel disease or kidney problems. High blood pressure also increases the risk of heart attacks. Reducing your blood pressure decreases the risk of developing these illnesses. Olmetec contains Olmesartan as the active ingredient which inhibits a naturally occurring substance in the body called as angiotensin II. Angiotensin II is responsible for the constriction of blood vessels. Olmetec lowers the blood pressure by relaxing the blood vessels. It belongs to the class of drugs known as angiotensin receptor blockers (ARBs) which can be recognized by the medicinal ingredient, ending in “SARTAN”. This medicine does not help to cure blood pressure. It only helps to control it. Hence, it is important to continue taking Olmetec regularly even if you feel fine.
