Provera Information

Provera (Medroxyprogesterone) is a form of progesterone, a female sex hormone that regulates ovulation and menstrual periods. Medroxyprogesterone is used to treat conditions such as absent or irregular menstrual periods, abnormal uterine bleeding, as well as decrease the risk of endometrial hyperplasia while taking estrogens. It can also be used to prevent overgrowth in the lining of the uterus in postmenopausal women. It works by mimicking the body’s natural progesterone production.

Some common side effects of Provera may include:
• Spotting or breakthrough bleeding;
• Changes in menstrual periods;
• Vaginal itching or discharge;
• Breast tenderness;
• Headache;
• Dizziness;
• Nervousness;
• Depression;
