What is Sibelium used for?


Sibelium (Flunarizine) is a prescription medication that is used to prevent migraine headaches with or without aura. This medication is very effective in reducing the frequency of migraine attacks and their severity. This medication does not have any effect on how long that attack lasts. It may take several weeks before you can actually see the effects of the medication. Do not stop taking this medication due to lack of effect within the first to eight weeks. The recommended adult’s dose of Flunarizine is 10 mg daily taken with or without food.

What are the Possible Side Effects of Sibelium?


The common side effects may include constipation, diarrhea, drowsiness, dizziness or lightheadedness, dryness of the mouth, headache, increased appetite or weight gain, nausea and unusual tiredness and weakness. The serious side effects may include:
• Bleeding, tender or swollen gums;
• Breathing difficulty and coughing;
• Chest pain;
• Depression;
• Fainting;
• Loss of balance control;
• Skin rash;
• Trembling and shaking of the hands and fingers;
• Trouble speaking or swallowing;
• Unusual secretion of breast milk

Are there any Precautions and Drug interactions for Sibelium?


You should not take Sibelium if you are allergic to Flunarizine or if you have any other allergies. Before you start taking this medication, talk to your doctor about your medical history and about all the medications you take including OTC and herbal medications. This medication may make you drowsy; you should not drive or do any activity that requires you to be alert. You should talk to your doctor before you take this medication if you are pregnant. Flunarizine passes into breast milk. You should not use this medication if you are breastfeeding a baby. There may be an interaction between flunarizine and other medications such as alcohol, anticonvulsants, and tranquilizers.

Sibelium Safety and Storage Information


Sibelium should be stored at room temperature between 15°C to 30°C (59°F to 86°F). Protect from light and moisture.
