What is Stalevo used for?
Stalevo (Carbidopa/Levodopa/Entacapone) is a medicine that contains three active ingredients; levodopa, carbidopa and entacapone. This drug combination is used to treat Parkinson's disease symptoms (such as shakiness, stiffness, difficulty moving). Parkinson's disease is believed to be caused by a lack of a naturally occurring chemical in the brain (dopamine). In the brain, levodopa converts to dopamine, which aids in movement control. Carbidopa and entacapone prevent levodopa from being broken down in the bloodstream, allowing more of it to enter the brain.
