What is Vevye Used for?

Vevye (Cyclosporine Ophthalmic Solution 0.1%) is a prescription medication used to treat the signs and symptoms of dry eye disease. Dry eye disease is a chronic inflammatory condition of the ocular surface. It occurs when the eyes do not produce enough tears, or the tears produced are of poor quality and evaporate too quickly. This can lead to persistent dryness, irritation, burning, stinging, foreign body sensation, redness, and sometimes blurred vision. The active ingredient in Vevye is Cyclosporine Ophthalmic Solution 0.1%. Cyclosporine belongs to a class of medications known as immunomodulators. It works by inhibiting the activation of immune cells involved in the inflammatory processes on the ocular surface and in the tear glands that contribute to dry eye. This action increases natural tear production and reduces the inflammation on the eye surface.

What are the Possible Side Effects of Vevye?

If you experience any of the following common side effects, contact your doctor or pharmacist immediately:
• Eye itching;
• Eye redness;
• Foreign body sensation;
• Increased tearing;
• Temporary blurred vision

Stop using Vevye and contact your doctor right away if you have any of the severe side effects, such as:

This is not a complete list of Vevye's adverse effects. Kindly contact your doctor or pharmacist if any of the above-listed side effects last longer than usual or worsen.

Are there any precautions or drug interactions for Vevye?

Before using this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to Vevye or have any other medical conditions that may affect your use of Vevye. It is crucial to continue using this medication exactly as your doctor prescribes. Vevye comes as eye drops. Please do not take it by mouth. This medication is for use in the eyes only. Wash your hands thoroughly before use. Twist off the cap of the bottle. Tilt your head back or lie down. Gently pull down your lower eyelid to create a small "pocket." Do not touch your eye, eyelid, or any other surface with the tip of the vial to avoid contamination. Instill one drop into the affected eye(s) once daily. Close your eyes gently. Press on the inner corner of your eye near the nose for about 1 minute to help the medication stay in the eye. Discard the single-use vial immediately after use, even if there is a residual solution remaining. If you wear contact lenses, remove them before applying Vevye and wait at least 15 minutes before reinserting them. Continue using this medication as prescribed. It may take several weeks to months to see the full effect. Temporary blurred vision may occur after application. Do not drive or operate machinery until your vision returns to normal.

You should not use Vevye and inform your doctor about your medical history, especially if you have or have had:
• A history of herpes simplex keratitis or other viral eye infections;
• Active eye infection;

Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant. It is unknown if Cyclosporine Ophthalmic will harm an unborn baby. Discuss the benefits and risks of using Vevye in pregnancy with your doctor. Inform your doctor if you are breastfeeding or planning to breastfeed. It is unknown if Cyclosporine Ophthalmic passes into breast milk. However, discuss the benefits and risks of using this medication when breastfeeding with your doctor. The safety and effectiveness of Vevye in children and adolescents under 18 years of age have not been established.

Tell your doctor about all the medications you use, including prescriptions, over-the-counter medications, herbal products, and vitamin supplements, to prevent drug interactions that might be fatal to your health. This drug interaction may make your drug less effective, cause adverse effects, or potentiate other drugs' actions. There may be a drug interaction between Vevye and other ophthalmic medications. Wait at least 15 minutes between applications of eye medications to allow each medication to be absorbed.

Vevye Storage and Safety Information
