What is Vyloma cream Used for?

Vyloma cream (Imiquimod) is a prescription medicine used to treat warts on the genitals and anus caused by Human Papilloma Virus (HPV). Genital warts are a type of sexually transmitted infection (STI) that causes small bumps or growths to form in and around the genitals and rectum. Vyloma cream is also used to treat precancerous growths and a certain type of skin cancer called superficial basal cell carcinoma. This drug helps to reduce complications that may arise from these conditions. The active ingredient in Vyloma cream is Imiquimod. Imiquimod belongs to a class of medications called immune response modifiers. It works by stimulating the body's immune system to fight certain types of skin conditions and abnormal skin growths.

Are there any Precautions and Drug Interactions for Vyloma cream?

Before using this medication, you should tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to Vyloma cream or have other problems when using Vyloma cream. It is crucial to continue using this medication exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Vyloma cream is a topical medication that should only be used on the skin. Do not take it by mouth. Apply this medication to the affected area before you go to sleep at night. Wash your hands and the area to be treated with mild soap and water before applying the cream. Dry the area well. Apply a thin layer of the drug to the affected area and rub it in. Wash your hands with soap and water after application. Do not cover the treated area with bandages or waterproof coverings. Leave the cream on overnight, usually for about 8 hours. The duration for leaving the cream on will depend on the condition you are treating. Do not shower or bathe during this time. Wash the treated area with soap and water in the morning to remove the cream. Do not leave Vyloma Cream on for longer than prescribed. Avoid your eyes, nose, mouth, rectum, or vagina when applying this cream. If the medication gets into those areas, flush them with plenty of water. If you are using this drug to treat warts under your penis foreskin, pull back the foreskin and clean the area each morning. Vyloma cream only eliminates warts. It does not kill the virus that causes the warts to form. Always use effective barrier protection to reduce the risk of spreading HPV to others. Avoid all sexual contact while the cream is on the skin if you are treating genital or anal warts. The cream may weaken condoms, dental dams, and diaphragms.

You should not use Vyloma cream and inform your doctor about your medical history, especially if you have or have had:
• Immune system problems;
• Lupus;
• Recent surgery in the area to be treated;
• Rheumatoid arthritis

Tell your doctor if you are pregnant. You should not use Vyloma cream when pregnant unless the benefits outweigh the risks. Inform your doctor if you are breastfeeding. It is unknown if Imiquimod passes into breast milk or if it may affect your nursing infant. The safety and effectiveness of Vyloma cream in children under 18 years of age has not been established.

Tell your doctor about all the medications you use, including prescriptions, over-the-counter medications, herbal products, and vitamin supplements, to prevent drug interactions that might be fatal to your health. This drug interaction may make your drug less effective, cause adverse effects, or potentiate other drugs' actions. There may be a drug interaction between Vyloma cream and other drugs, such as:
Cyclosporine;
• Echinacea;
• Methotrexate;
• Prednisone
