What is Zomig used for?

Zomig is a migraine medication use to treat migraines once they’ve already begun. It works by narrowing blood vessels around the brain, as well as reducing substances in the body that can trigger headache pain, nausea, sensitivity to light and sound, and other migraine related symptoms.

Zomig is not a preventative migraine medication, and should be used only when a migraine has started, and if your migraine condition has been confirmed by a neurologist or other qualified doctor.

What are the Possible Side Effects of Zomig?

Most medications will come with side effects. Before deciding if Zomig are right for you, take a closer look at what you might expect.

Here are some of the most common side effects that come with taking Zomig:

• Pain or tightness in your throat or chest;

• Dry mouth;

• Upset stomach;

• Pressure or heaviness anywhere in the body;

• Drowsiness;

• Flushing – warmth, redness, tingling

Store Zomig at room temperature away from extreme heat, light, and moisture.

Zomig can raise your blood pressure to dangerous levels, so you may be required to have your blood pressure checked often while on this medication. You may also need to have your heart function checked using an electrocardiograph or EKG.

This medication may impair your thinking or reactions. Be careful if you have to drive or operate heavy machinery until you know how it affects you.
