Just as Christmas approached in 2021, Senators Marco Rubio (R-FL) and Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) introduced a billed called the Domain Reform for Unlawful Drug Sellers (DRUGS) Act. This was followed up by identical text from Congressmen David McKinley (R-WV) and Bobby Rush (D-IL), who introduced the House of Representatives version of the bill.

On the surface, the DRUGS Act appears to address growing concerns about Americans' access to opioids and fentanyl from websites, yet it makes no distinction between websites selling dangerous items and those that you -- as a customer of Canadian Pharmacy World -- know to be a safe, trusted source for your daily medications.

Addressing the online availability of opioids and fentanyl is an extremely important matter. However, the DRUGS Act also incorrectly targets the shutdown of legitimate licensed pharmacy websites that sell legally manufactured daily meds approved by reputable health authorities in other countries for conditions such as diabetes, arthritis, COPD, high blood pressure and cholesterol. To be licensed in the U.S. a pharmacy must be located there AND therefore sell drugs at the high prices that led you to order your medications from Canadian Pharmacy World in the first place.

If the DRUGS Act is passed into law, U.S. residents who can’t afford their medications where they live will no longer be able to purchase from Canadian Pharmacy World or other legitimate non-U.S. websites that sell safe medications often 50 to 90% less expensive than in the U.S. Our website will go dark and you will no longer be able to order from us to get your vital lower cost medications.

You would lose your right to purchase from a safe non-U.S. based licensed pharmacy. So who wins by suspending and blocking them while eliminating competition? Big Pharma! They have been fighting to destroy access from outside U.S. for 20 years, and this is just the latest salvo in the battle. The special interests backing the DRUGS Act include many front organizations that are funded by the pharmaceutical industry. In fact, one of these organizations took $1 million from Purdue Pharma, the maker of the highly addictive opioid painkiller OxyContin!

To protect your right to access safe and affordable medicines from licensed international online pharmacy websites like Canadian Pharmacy World, please stand up and tell your elected representatives to stop Big Pharma’s plan to take away your affordable medications and demand they vote against this bill.

The Campaign for Personal Prescription Importation, a US nonprofit that represents individuals like you who order their affordable medications from international online pharmacies, is fighting hard against this bill and they have created a tool which will pre-write and automatically send a letter to your local Senator and Congressperson voicing your opposition to this devastating bill. Please, take a brief moment to enter your details to send the letter right here.
