So take it after you get up for the day and before taking your first food, drink or other medicine. Do not chew or suck on the tablet. Swallow the tablet with plain water. Do not use mineral water, coffee, tea, soda or juice. After swallowing Boniva, wait at least 60 minutes before you lie down. Do not eat your first food of the day for at least 60 minutes after taking Boniva.

Some of the common side effects of Boniva may include back pain, heartburn, stomach area pain, pain in arms and legs, diarrhea, headache, muscle pain, flu-like symptoms. Some of the serious side effects of this medication include esophagus problems, low levels of calcium in blood, bone pain, joint or muscle pain, severe jaw bone problems, unusual thigh bone fractures. Are there any Precautions and Drug interactions for Boniva?


Do not take Boniva if you:

• Are allergic to ibandronate or any other ingredients in the medication

• Cannot stand or sit upright for at least 60 minutes

Boniva is not recommended for use in children and adolescents less than 18 years of age.
