What is Evista used for?


Evista (Raloxifene) tablets are used for the prevention and treatment of bone loss after menopause. Raloxifene belongs to a family of medications called selective estrogen receptor modifiers (SERMs). This medication works by slowing the breakdown of bone and promoting the building of new bone. Raloxifene may also lower the chance of getting a certain type of breast cancer after menopause. Raloxifene is not an estrogen hormone, but it acts like estrogen in some parts of the body, like your bones. The recommended adult dose of Raloxifene is 60mg daily at the same time each day, with or without food.

What are the Possible Side Effects of Evista?


The common possible side effects may include flu symptoms, hot flashes, joint pain, leg cramps, increased sweating, swelling in your hands, feet or ankles. The serious side effects may include:

• Chest pain;

• Coughing up blood;

• Sudden change in vision;

• Symptoms of blood clots in the lungs;

• Symptoms of blood clots in the veins;

• Trouble breathing

You should not take Evista if you are allergic to Raloxifene or if you have any other allergies. Evista should be stored at room temperature between 68 and 77 degrees F or (20 and 25 degrees C) away from heat, moisture and light out of reach of children and pets. This medication should not be stored in the bathroom.
