Are There Alternative Names for the Brand and Generic Climara Patch?

The brand Climara Patch is available from Canada and Australia by Bayer. There is no generic available for Climara Patch at this time.

What Dosages and Forms is Climara Patch available in?

The Climara Patch is available in four dosage forms: Climara 25 mcg (containing 2.0 mg of estradiol), Climara 50 mcg (containing 3.8 mg of estradiol), Climara 75 mcg (containing 5.7 mg of estradiol) and Climara 100 mcg containing 7.6 mg of estradiol). Each box of Climara contains 4 patches.

What is Climara Patch used for?

Climara Patch is prescribed by the doctor for:
•Treatment of menopause symptoms (moderate to severe hot flashes). Estrogens are hormones produced by a woman's ovaries. When her menstrual periods stop (menopause), around the age of 45-50, the ovaries stop producing estrogens. Sometimes ovaries are removed by an operation and it is known as surgical menopause. The drop in estrogen levels causes uncomfortable symptoms in women such as the feeling of warmth in face, neck, and chest or a sudden intense episode of heat and sweating (known as hot flashes). These hot flashes can further lead to frequent awakening at night, irritability, sleep disturbance and depression.
•Treatment of moderate to severe dryness, itching, burning and itching around the vagina, which occurs due to estrogen deficiency.
•Prevention of the development of osteoporosis. After menopause, all women start to lose calcium in their bones due to a decrease in the amount of estrogen in their body. With time, it may lead to thinning of bones called as osteoporosis which makes them weak and increases the chances of fractures.
•Treatment of conditions in which a young woman’s ovaries do not produce enough estrogen naturally.

Women with an intact uterus should use always Climara Patch along with a progestin. Climara is a medicated transdermal patch that contains a hormone called estrogen (estradiol), the same as the hormone produced naturally in the body. When you place this patch on your skin, the hormone is transferred to your body through your skin.
