Pariet is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) and works by reducing the amount of acid made in your stomach. Take Pariet exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Use the lowest and shortest dose as determined by your doctor. Swallow the tablets whole with water. Do not crush or chew the tablets. The medication can be taken with or without meals.
