Are there any Precautions and Drug Interactions for Prevident?

Prevident comes as a gel to be used with a toothbrush for brushing your mouth. You should follow the instruction written on the leaflet that comes with it. After brushing thoroughly with toothpaste, rinse as usual. Next, apply a thin ribbon of the Prevident gel to the teeth with a toothbrush or mouth tray once daily for at least one minute, preferably at bedtime. Do not swallow the gel. Spit out the medication after use. Children should rinse their mouths thoroughly right away. It would be best if you do not use Prevident gel for children below the age of 6 years.

You should not take Prevident and inform your doctor about your medical history, especially if you have or have had:

• Bad breath or halitosis;
• Kidney disease;

Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, plan to get pregnant, or breastfeed a baby. Before breastfeeding your baby, you should discuss the risks and benefits of using Prevident gel.

Tell your doctor about all your medications, including prescriptions, over-the-counter medications, herbal products, and vitamin supplements, to prevent drug interactions that might be fatal to your health. This drug interaction may make your drug less effective, cause adverse effects, or potentiate other drugs' actions. However, no known drug interacts with the active ingredient in Prevident gel.
