Fosavance is a prescription medicine used to treat osteoporosis in men and postmenopausal women. Osteoporosis is a bone disease that develops when the bone mineral density and mass decreases or when the structure and strength of the bone change. This condition can lead to a decrease in bone strength, increasing the risk of fractures. Fosavance is a combination medicine. The active ingredients in Fosavance are Alendronate and Cholecalciferol. Alendronate belongs to a class of drugs called bisphosphonates. It works against osteoporosis by slowing down the cells that usually break down bone, increasing bone mineral density. Cholecalciferol belongs to a class of drugs called Vitamin D analogs. It works against osteoporosis by helping the body absorb calcium properly.
